I got to meet Adam Liaw!!!

Yesterday, I went to the Good Food & Wine Show in Melbourne with a friend. I was lucky enough to get an online special deal where tickets were half price but only for the Friday :) I had previously gone to the SBS Food Journey Festival in March with a couple of girlfriends and absolutely loved it so I thought this would somewhat be the same.

 The Good Food & Wine Show was bigger but I preferred the SBS Food Journey Festival as it was much more intimate and cozier.

 Anyways, back to what the title of this post is....I got to meet Adam and even had the chance to take a photo with him! If only I looked up the show's information earlier...I would've known that he would be there and could've got him to sign my copy of his cookbook! >_< Oh wells, at least I got the chance to take a photo with him and also told him that I was on a mission to cook all the recipes in his cookbook. He even asked me what my blog was called but I doubt he would remember/check my blog out? I would be completely stoked if he did but the fact that I got to tell him what I was doing was good enough for me :)

I call them "Green with Asian Envy" a.k.a Pandan Coconut Cupcakes with a suprise kaya filling topped with pandan cream cheese frosting and toasted shredded coconut. The reason for the name is because these cupcakes are probably the most Asian of cupcakes that I have ever made and eaten. What's there not to love about pandan or kaya (coconut jam)? Combine the both of them together and the flavours bring me back to my childhood days of eating kaya on bread. Most non-Asian kids would have been brought up on nutella or peanut butter on bread but I was brought up on kaya. Below is the recipe for "Green With Asian Envy" which I have adapted from Cupcake Central 's red velvet cupcake recipe. If you have not gotten your hands on their "Hatch That Dream" cookbook, you are missing out! So...what are you waiting for? Cafe Casuarina - your friendly neighbourhood cafe

Cafe Casuarina 4/77 Douglas Parade Williamstown VIC 3016 Opening Hours: Breakfast & Lunch (7 days a week) Last Saturday morning, we (Eddie, Pete and myself) visited Cafe Casuarina for an early breakfast. Mind you, the early I am talking about is about 8am. Usually I am still in bed but Eddie had a haircut appointment at 10am so for once, I was an early riser. By the time we got to the cafe, there were already a few people enjoying their breakkie. We were seated in the booth right up the back (as per our request). First observations, the cafe was really clean and the decor was nice and simple. Whilst we couldn't decide what to order from their delicious menu, I looked over and saw Jason practicing his flower arrangement skills. When we were ready to order, Jason promptly came to our booth and took our order. Eating My Way Through Singapore in 6 days

I remember once as a kid in Malaysia; my mum whisked me from school and took me to Singapore with her for the day as she had some business meetings to attend to. Did I remember her attending business meetings? Not really but I do remember the both of us sitting in a restaurant overlooking Orchard Road where we observed the people who went by. We had Japanese food; I had an ebi don and mum had an unagi don. I am blessed that at a very young age, I was exposed to different types of cuisines and I enjoy eating as much as I can. It's not the first time that I have been to Singapore but the past two times that I was there, I did not get to explore the food scene as much as I wanted to.
