a Spanish place in Melbourne CBD - the good, the bad and the ugly

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is a 1966 Italian epic Spaghetti Western film directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach in the title roles respectively. (taken from Wikipedia) I must say that The Good, the Bad and the Ugly  is a really good film. If you haven't watched it, you should. I usually don't bother with writing blog reviews on most places that I have dined at in Melbourne because... I am a lazy food blogger, instagram is enough for me. Plenty of others have already blogged about the place (I usually agree with their thoughts) There's nothing worth mentioning about the place. I don't like writing bad reviews. I will leave that up to others. However in the case of this specific restaurant located somewhere in the CBD (ask me and I will tell you), I would like to highlight the good, the bad  and the ugly. A few simple questions first... Why do we blog about food? Because we want to, because people want to kn...

Lemon, Middle and Orange - weekend brunch date with W

Image
Lemon, Middle and Orange 25-31 Rokeby Street, Collingwood VIC 3066 Opening Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm                          Saturday, 8:00am - 3:00pm                          Sunday, 9:00am - 3:00pm What can be better than brunch being served all day, everyday? If it wasn't for Lemon, Middle and Orange popping up on my instagram (spooksnbubbles), I would not have known this hidden gem existed in Collingwood. Firstly, I must say I like the name of the cafe. Their sign is yellow and the table up back has a big bowl of LEMONs, its in the MIDDLE of nowhere (hidden away, a good thing), and the ORANGE on the upturned paint cans are awesome. Anyways, that's just my take on the name of the cafe.

Brother Fox 648 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn VIC 3122 03 - 9819 0948 Opening Hours: opens for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Tuesday - Saturday.                           opens for breakfast and lunch only on Sundays.                          closed on Mondays. If only we knew "what does the fox say?", it wouldn't be  Ring-ding-ding-ding-dingeringeding! or  Wa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pow!  or  Hatee-hatee-hatee-ho! . It would most likely be Brother Fox. Brother Fox was previously known as Chasar Bliss. Ever since my uni days back in 2006, I have been a regular customer at this restaurant. I can always count on this place to dish out delicious food.

Cafe Casuarina - your friendly neighbourhood cafe

Image
Cafe Casuarina 4/77 Douglas Parade Williamstown VIC 3016 Opening Hours: Breakfast & Lunch (7 days a week) Last Saturday morning, we (Eddie, Pete and myself) visited Cafe Casuarina for an early breakfast. Mind you, the early I am talking about is about 8am. Usually I am still in bed but Eddie had a haircut appointment at 10am so for once, I was an early riser. By the time we got to the cafe, there were already a few people enjoying their breakkie. We were seated in the booth right up the back (as per our request). First observations, the cafe was really clean and the decor was nice and simple. Whilst we couldn't decide what to order from their delicious menu, I looked over and saw Jason practicing his flower arrangement skills. When we were ready to order, Jason promptly came to our booth and took our order. I chose the freshly squeezed juice as my choice of drink, I was asked what I would like in it and I told Jason to surprise me. my delicious combinat...

Jenny and I are foodie lovers and we've been to three food events this year (only 1 of them, we went to separately). Last month at the Taste of Melbourne, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly with Melbourne's Ultimate Tasting Menu - sharing 7 of the superb dishes between us from a number of great restaurants :) This is a photo of the two of us with our yummylicious cupcakes that we did not share with anyone (we were at a weekend getaway for a friend's birthday)...
