steph/adam project: ninety-second greens

Image
As the title states, ninety-second greens...it's that simple. I'm pretty sure someone who doesn't know how to cook can even make this dish, all you have to do is follow Adam's instructions :) You only need 3 things; spinach, salt and oil + the boiling water to cook the veggies. This dish is very simple simple in it's flavour but yet it pleases the tastebuds. I added an extra ingredient to this dish, being a hardcore garlic lover...I couldn't help myself but add some crushed garlic to this dish :P Another thing that would go really nice with this dish would also be sesame seeds :) ninety-second greens If you would like the recipe for this from Adam Liaw's cookbook, leave me a comment with your email and I will send it to you :) Adam's recipe: 81 Steph's completed: 3

steph/adam project: raw beef and green apple yukhoe

I have always been a big fan of yukhoe, also commonly known as yukke. According to Adam, this is a more Japanese version as it is served wrapped in toasted nori seaweed. I have made a similar dish to this plenty of times before from a Korean cookbook, the marinate for the meat is different to the one of Adam's and I normally use nashi instead of green apple. Yes, some people may find that raw beef is off putting coz...well, to put it simply "it's raw" but it's actually quite tasty. Make sure you marinate the beef thoroughly with the sauce (use your hands, its the best way :P) and to top it off, crack a raw egg yolk on top. Suprisingly, I didn't mind this recipe for raw beef as I was so used to the other one that I usually make. steph/adam project: raw corn and carrot salad

Image
I know I wasn't meant to start this "thing" of mine till the weekend but since I have the rest of this week off...I thought I will cook a few of Adam's recipes today for lunch. I have never eaten raw corn before so I didn't know what to think of this recipe. The only ingredient that I missed out on was harissa coz I had no clue what it was but I do now :) After mixing all the ingredients together and combined it with the sauce, I have to say that this was a very refreshing and delicious little salad! It will not be the last time that I make this salad but defintely during a night in with grilled steak and some mash potatoes om nom nom nom raw corn and carrot salad If you would like the recipe for this from Adam's cookbook, leave me a comment with your email and I will send it to you :) Adam's recipe: 81 Steph's completed: 1 p/s: stay tuned for the next 2 recipes that I cooked today :)

I'm sure some of you would have seen the movie Julie & Julia, it's about cooking...all about a woman who's project goal is to cook all of Julia Child's recipes in "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in 365 days . I have probably watched this film more than twice but I couldn't help it, I love cooking. This in a way has sparked something in me to do the same thing but my challenge will not be Julia Child's recipes as I am dreadful (not quite) at using the oven and I have more of a knack for Asian food. So I have decided that I will cook from Adam Liaw's recipes in "Two Asian Kitchens". In the Old and New Kitchen; Adam explores recipes that he has grown up with, along with new creations. For those of you who don't know who Adam is, he was the winner of the 2010 Australia MasterChef . Here's a picture of his book (if you are curious)... Well, my aim is to cook one (or two) of his recipes each weekend and hopefully co
